SANE Case Practice and Workshop

Re LAB's SANE Case Practice and Workshop is a unique opportunity to develop your skills in caring for a patient who has experienced sexual violence and to join our growing network of Re LAB SANEs. The workshop is in Minneapolis, MN.  Travel and lodging are covered for eligible members.

What you will do in this experience:

  • The training covers four phases of a forensic nurse exam with an adult or adolescent.  Trauma-informed history taking, head to toe assessment (with photography),  and medication assessment/discharge education will be taught by "providing care" to a realistic Standardized Patient (trained actor).  In addition, each day will include a pelvic workshop including speculum examination.
  • Learn from expert sexual assault nurse examiners and a range of colleagues, taking time to talk through challenges and to practice these skills.
  • Your level of experience will be accommodated in our tailored teaching and small group processes.
